Why Share and Collaborate
Spelling Test Buddy makes it easy for teachers to collaborate by allowing Word Lists and Folders to be shared with other teachers. Whether you’re mentoring, co-teaching, or just want to reuse quality content across classrooms, sharing reduces duplication and helps build a stronger, more consistent learning experience.

As the One Sharing
What Can You Share
You can share individual Word Lists or entire Folders with other teachers. Once shared, recipients can use and modify the content, but ownership and control over access stays with you.
Sharing a Word List
To share a Word List, go to view/edit the Word List, and scroll down to the Sharing section:

You can also jump to it from the Actions drop-down in the list of Word Lists:

Once there, simply enter the email address of a teacher with whom you want to share. Tap “Share”, and that’s it! They will receive an email invite, and you will see a row added to the table.
Sharing a Folder
When you share a Folder, the recipient receives collaboration access to every Word List within the folder. And the folder is dynamic: if you add more Word Lists to it, or remove Word Lists from it, the recipient will get access to those automatically.
To share a Folder, go into the Folder and tap on the Sharing section:

Tap on it to expand the section:

Just enter the email address, tap “Share”, and you’re done.
Removing a Recipient’s Access to a Share
You can revoke access to a Word List or Folder at any time.
- For Word Lists: Open the Word List, scroll to Sharing, find the share, and tap “Remove”.
- For Folders: Open the Folder, go to Sharing, find the share, and tap “Remove”.
If the invite hasnβt been accepted yet, you can also revoke it before itβs accepted.
If already accepted, the recipient will lose access immediately, and any test results or assignments tied to the shared Word List(s) will be deleted.
As the One Receiving a Share
Accepting a Share Invitation
Once invited, youβll receive an email with a link to accept the shared resource. Tap on the link to go to the Share Details page.

Tap Accept Invitation. If you haven’t logged in or signed up, you will be asked to do that first. After doing so, the shared Word List or Folder will be added to your list of Word Lists and Folders. Shared items are marked with a special icon for easy identification.
Removing Yourself from a Shared Word List or Folder
If you no longer want access to a shared resource, remove it using the dropdown menu. This will revoke your access and delete all test results tied to that content. It won’t affect the original owner or other recipients.
Permissions and Limitations
Teachers receiving a share can:
- Use the shared Word List or Folder in assignments, even if on the Basic (free) plan
- Edit the contents (words, definitions, order)
- Remove the resource from their list
They cannot:
- Rename the shared Word List or Folder
- Delete or move it to another Folder
