Introducing “Available From” dates
Have you been in this position?
You want to set up a quarter’s worth of practice and spelling assignments in advance.
But you don’t want your students to see the assignments for future weeks. You only want them to see this coming week’s practice and test.
Up until now, you had to wait until the start of your week’s lessons to assign the test. But that means one more thing to worry about at the start of the class day.
There’s now a better way. Introducing Assignment “Available From” Dates.
Previously, when you created an assignment, you could choose a date that the test or practice is Available Until.
Starting this weekend, you can now also choose a date that the test or practice is Available From.

'Available From' is now available
An example
Let’s say I want to set up the following schedule for each week:
- Provide a pre-test to students on Monday, September 15
- Allow them to practice with spelling tests and games as much as they want on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (September 16-September 18), and
- Provide the main test on Friday, September 19
You can do this easily with Spelling Test Buddy! Here’s how you set it up.
First, create the Pre-test Assignment on Monday September 15 in Assignments:

Pretest set for Monday September 15
This pretest will appear on Monday, September 15, and be available only that day.
Second, create the Practice Assignment for Tuesday, Sep 16 to Thursday, Sep 18:

Practice set for Tuesday Sep 16 through Thursday Sep 18
Third, create the Main Test Assignment for Friday, September 19:

Main test appears on Friday, Sep 19
Repeat this structure for all 20 weeks, but just change the Word List and dates for Available From and Available Until.
You can even set this up for groups of students too, and truly differentiate across levels.
And that’s it! The system will automatically show and hide tests for each student.
